| Brian Cathcart is in proposition that British politics is indeed in the hands of the media. Facebook @ fb.me Twitter @ www.twitter.com Oxford Union Website @ www.oxford-union.org He suggests that Britain was once like living in Belusconi's Italy as in the Government controlled all media and there was no such thing as true 'free speech'. He touches on Rupert Murdoch giving an interview to the BBC 45 years ago saying that newspapers have the power to hide and not reveal the truth which he described as 'a great power for evil'. He mentions that in the past The Guardian has run 237 stories on phone hacking and The Mirror has run only 11 stories, discrediting all those of The Guardian -- an example of the 'great power of evil' at work. He concludes by saying that this country is in the hands of the media, that pending the result of the leveson enquiry will continue to be so.
